Liz is based in Murgwanza, in north-western Tanzania near the border with Rwanda and Burundi. She is engaged in ministry with the Diocese of Kagera where she is helping local parishes to establish Bible Study ministries. She does this by travelling to various parishes and working with pastors to determine the best way to support their teaching ministry in this area. Often it involves starting the work in the parish by running a seminar on the meaning of the Bible and how to read it yourself. This is then followed up with five weeks of Bible studies for people who will later lead others in Bible study in small groups. She teaches teams of previously trained evangelists to lead Bible studies for the whole parish. Liz prepares all her own parish Bible study material and is hoping to develop others. Liz is also involved in co-ordinating secondary school scripture and Bible knowledge classes for the Diocese of Kagera. "The thirst for the word of God is so strong in so many areas and there are so few with a chance at formal education I feel called to help with the skills God has given me in what ever way God leads me to."
Liz would like to hear from anyone who is a teacher or has some theological study behind them and would like to be involved in developing teaching notes via email. Please contact her by email on the address below.
