About Us

We are a group of churches, congregations and ministries in partnership with each other. In some ways what God is doing in and through St Paul's is of necessity much broader than we can document by outlining here our structures and public ministries. But we hope that this web site will help you gain some sense of the whole.

The apostle Paul says in Ephesians 4:11-13, that Christ has given gifts to his church, of apostles, prophets, evangelists, and pastor/teachers, for the purpose of equipping God's people for their ministry, so that the church may be built into maturity in Christ. This has three results. Firstly the church will be built. Secondly, it will be built into unity around the things we believe, especially about Jesus (this is the real unity). Thirdly, it will be built into maturity in Christ-likeness.

The key to this is week-by-week ministry conducted by the members of the church under the prayerful direction of the Word of God. Our patterns of ministry are only useful in so far as the members all see themselves as Christ's ministers.

We are, of course, an Anglican church but in fellowship with all bible-based evangelical churches. As an Anglican church we are committed to the Mission of the Diocese which was endorsed by 2002 Sydney Synod.

Since May 2003 the staff and Parish Council have been having extensive discussions on how we might achieve a four-fold increase in membership to be in keeping with the Diocesan mission. Through a lengthy series of discussions, drafting and reviewing plans, the staff and parish council has now developed what they feel is an effective way to support the Diocese goal. A brief document outlining the background and a bit of the project can be viewed on this site. Also posted on this website is a complete version of the Church Planting Project.

I hope that as you read through the web site you will get a sense of what we think the future holds for St Paul's.
